Today, day 5 of September, 2011, is Teachers’ Day, marks the birthday of, His Excellency Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, our country’s first Vice-President. More than that, he is a teacher of all teachers.
On this great day, I would like to share a thought, rather, an incident that took place in this same day, a couple of years before in Satchidananda Jothi Nikethan Matric Higher Secondary School, Mettupalayam. Students of this school organized programs, entertained and celebrated their teachers, paid tribute to them. Many of the Students presented gifts to the principal of the school, Mr. V. Ganesan. He is a very special principal, inspiring and an enthusiastic teacher with more than (even, after) three decades of experience.
For him, of all the gifts, one remains so special, even today, which he did not receive before in his decades of educational service. It’s a card, which he still keeps on his table and never forgets to read it daily. The lines written on the card made it so special, “May every student get a teacher like you”. Somewhere along the way, he must have been good and inspired that student, which prompted him on that great day to give a card of that kind. The principal felt proud to be his teacher, and the same was the feel of his student.
Those lines were simple, but it reminds us every time of our duty towards children. Its only because of faithful students like him, our responsibility doubles every day.
By the way, what is written in the card given by your student?
My dear fellow teachers let us touch the hearts of our students by our kind and lovable acts. Let us move close to children and make a difference in their lives.
Come, Let us resolve to remember on saying; “Inspire and Be Inspired”
To a dedicated and sincere teacher, every day is Teachers’ Day.
Happy Teachers’ Day!
